Capital Campaign to Begin

We are proud to announce the inauguration of our St. Joseph Parish Center Capital Campaign. After much consultation and prayer among the parish leadership and parishioners, it has been decided to conduct this campaign to raise the necessary funds to build a Parish Center to include Faith Formation Classrooms, a large Community Room with a Commercial Kitchen, and Parish Staff Offices.

Over the next few weeks, you will receive information about the campaign during Sunday Mass, through the mail, in the bulletin and at campaign receptions. We ask that everyone give their fullest attention and cooperation to the efforts of this campaign.

Over the course of our project, all parishioners in the parish will be asked to give their time, efforts, prayers and financial commitment in order to ensure a successful campaign. Coming to a reception is the first step in understanding our plans for the future!

The Solution

The approximate cost of the parish center will be $3.6 million and construction cannot begin until we have suitable funds on hand. To make this a reality, it is imperative to launch a capital campaign with a goal of raising $3.6 million.

The most effective way of doing this is to appeal to you – our family in faith. Each parishioner is asked to prayerfully consider their gifts from God and then express their love and gratitude for their blessings by making a commitment to Saint Joseph Catholic Church’s Capital Campaign Fund. It is vitally important that everyone in our parish become  involved in this commitment.

The parish center will be constructed beside the church and will necessitate the demolition of the existing two-story building. Great care will be taken to preserve the large oak trees near the current parish office building but construction may have an impact on them.

There will be plenty of room for storage of faith formation materials and other class items and the classrooms will be made available to the homeschool community during the week.

A welcoming reception area is included for visitors and meeting rooms will be available for use by parish groups. An elevator will lead to the second floor and restrooms will be installed on both floors.

The parish center will be connected to the church via a covered walkway leading to a new entranceway. The new entry will pass through the existing community room alcove nearest the parish center. The current doors in the existing community room will remain in place.

The parish center is designed to meet our space needs for the next 10 –15 years.

The Design

After carefully analyzing the parish campus footprint, Saint Joseph’s useable land and all necessary City of Raleigh ordinances and policies, Perry Cox of Cox Design and Bobbitt Design-Build, Inc. provided a variety of concepts to the Pastoral Council aimed at addressing the current and future needs of the Parish.
